  • GardenFair at Winterthur (All weekend) -- everything for the great American garden, including the Children's Garden of Verses in Winterthur's Enchanted Woods on Sunday, 9/16.   • Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware will host the "Day for Kids" at the Wilmington Riverfest, Saturday, Sept. 15, from Noon to 6pm.   • The Brandywine Zoo and Latin American Community Center sponsor a Zoo Fiesta from noon to 4pm. Learn about endangered species from Latin Countries and how to make a difference. Activities are free with admission.

  • Hagley Car Show, 10 - 4, rain or shine. Featuring 500+ vehicles, refreshments, and free ice cream for members. Park at DuPont's Barley Mill Plaza at Rts. 141 & 48.   • Pack a Picnic for the Child's Garden of Verses Family Event - 10 a.m.-3 p.m. where Enchanted Woods will be transformed into a “Child’s Garden of Verses” to celebrate children’s literacy through the books of acclaimed author Jane Yolen. Several activity stations in the children’s garden will have a theme based on favorites like Owl Moon; Child of Faerie, Child of Earth; Shape Me a Rhyme, All in the Woodland Early, and Fine Feathered Friends. I Am Concerned That My Child is Overweight, What Should I Do? with Dr. Amy

If you are concerned that your child is overweight, talk to your pediatrician. Your doctor will measure your child's height and weight and should calculate a BMI (Body Mass Index) to compare your child to other children of the same age. Now take a step back and take a deep breath. This is a very sensitive issue for children and your approach can have lasting effects on your child's feelings about their body and their relationship with food.   • Saturday September 22nd: Ice Cream Festival to benefit the Bayard House at the Blue Ball Barn from Noon to 5:00pm - which includes ALL YOU CAN EAT ice cream! childrens activities, crafts pumpkn painting, edible sand art, and face painting. $5 per person.
  • Delaware Art Museum Presents the Family Festival on Sunday, September 23, noon – 3:30 p.m. The festival is free. Children will create art projects inspired by the art of the Pre-Raphaelites and participate in a fun and interactive children’s theater with Middle-earth Studios, an organization focused on enriching children’s imagination through costume storytelling.
