This Week on Buzz (3/6-3/12)

Updated: Mar 5, 2023

Benefit of Books

This week, our focus is on highlighting the numerous benefits of reading to our children. As per a reliable local online resource, "reading aloud to your baby is a wonderful shared activity that you can continue for years to come - and it's crucial for your baby's brain development." Speaking of brains, this week also marks the time when we turn our clocks ahead, causing us to lose an hour of sleep. This time change can sometimes throw our minds off balance, especially given the numerous changes that often occur during the month of March. Therefore, it is essential to take a breather, allow your brain to adjust, and take pleasure in a good book or story with your child.

Here are a couple of great opportunities to acquire some new/old books this week.

  1. Friends of the Hockessin Library Used Book Sale this Friday and Saturday. All kinds of used books as well as many children's books will be included in the sale.

  2. The Hockessin Bookshelf is having their Bogo Sale this Saturday. They have a large collection of used children's books from the latest Babysitters Club graphic novels to old favorites like Magic Tree House and the Hardy Boys. There are also kids non-fiction books on history, science, sports and hobbies. You can even bring to them the books your kids have outgrown.

Check out Buzz events here for this week and make sure to add the ones you like to your calendar so you don't miss out! Happy Buzzing this week!
